How can we Reflect upon our history, be Inspired by our present, and use it to Transform our reality, both at Dropbox and globally as we move through Black History Month?
If Dropbox is here to build the future, then Black Dropboxers are here to set the tone.
This month we will honor, celebrate, and uplift Black joy, collaboration, and innovation. As members of the global Black Diaspora, we have always remained ahead of the curve when it comes to the latest trends and the newest innovations - just as our ancestors were by necessity. Our aim is to re-ignite our passion for creation because we are our Ancestors’ wildest dreams.
This Black History Month, we have a ton of SWAG to give away, but you have to earn it. Get your BHM SWAG mailed to you by attending our events this month. Please fill out this form so that we have your information. GET YOUR SWAG
Nerdcore Rapper Mega Ran has "proven he can excel in storytelling, punchlines, poignancy, freestyling and, well, pretty much any other way you can measure an MC.”
— LA Weekly
An incredible impromptu "freestyle" MC, Ran's unique combination of fantasy and introspective hip-hop has found its way all over the world, into leading press outlets and most recently, into the Guinness Book Of World Records.
Discover the musical heritage of U Street --aka Black Broadway-- from jazz to hip hop to punk to go go. Walk the streets & back alleys and learn how murals, theatres, music venues, and memorials embrace the history of this amazing neighborhood. Along the way, we'll listen to a diverse playlist that will match up with the murals and venues.
As we celebrate Black History Month, we’re pleased to host this special speaker event to honor Dr. Charles R. Drew, who founded the Red Cross blood program in 1940. It’s also an opportunity to share the importance of diversifying our blood supply to help meet the needs of those with sickle cell disease, the most common inherited blood disorder in the U.S.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 1 in 13 Black or African American babies in the U.S. is born with sickle cell trait; blood transfusions, while not a cure, are one of the few treatments available to people living with sickle cell disease. To help ensure patients have the blood products they need, the Red Cross is working with our community to grow the number of blood donors who are Black through the Sickle Cell Initiative. Join the conversation to learn how you can help improve and extend the lives of those affected by sickle cell disease.
**THIS EVENT IS NOT HOSTED BY DROPBOX. PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE EVENT AND COMPLETE THE GOOGLE FORM SO THAT THE EVENT CAN COUNT TOWARDS YOUR BHM ATTENDANCE.**
In Studio
In our Dropbox Studios, we will be hosting an exhibit and activity called "Our Ancestor's Wildest Dreams." In each studio we will have posters with portraits of great Black people in tech. We encourage all employees to share images and/or stories about their ancestors and how you have become the living embodiment of your ancestor's wildest dreams. You can share in studio by posting your image or story on our Ancestral Wall or you can share on social media using the hashtags #LifeInsideDropbox #BDBXBHM23
For Neighborhoods
For our neighborly Neighborhoods globally, we encourage our neighborhood Dropboxers to find a local Black-Owned business, get your hood together, and go support that business. Post your picture in the #blackdropboxers Slack channel or on social media using the hashtags #LifeInsideDropbox #BDBXBHM23. By sharing your experience, you will be entered to win a gift card from the Black-Owned business you supported!

Who told you that the harder you work the more valuable you are? That if you don’t code switch, or you’re too authentic, you might not get the job you want or get overlooked for a promotion? The assumptions we have about ourselves and how others view us impact our true reality of self, causing more than likely doubt. It’s the step right before the imposter syndrome kicks in.
This conversation will focus on shedding those “before” thoughts, narrative building & unlearning the perceptions of others. Along with practical steps to unlocking your radical candor and the best act of resistance, Black joy.
